about its history. From Tantrism developed the body techniques
which are now becoming so familiar to the west as HATH
Yoga. Yoga refers to a certain state of consciousness
as well as one can reach the goal or state of union with
the divine. A really deep study of Yoga requires time
Yoga is a way of walking up to the real potentials in
this life, there exists within you a treasure house of
personal potential to which Yoga is the Key. There is
no doubt that any system of personal development such
as Yoga is better learned from a teacher or GURU if you
can find a good one. Yoga is not dangerous.The only way
you can get into trouble is if you break all the rules
and go at it like a bull at a gate, The present 8 steps
will form the foundation for the study of Yoga.

Fundamental steps for the study of Yoga: |
| 1. YAMAS |
The
first step is mind control, entailing the attempt to live
positively through the virtues of simple cleanliness,
honesty (to self as well as others) and respect toward
all men.

| 2.
NIYAMAS |
Those things,
which it is positively directed, a yogi should avoid,
such as lying, stealing, greed, killing and any form of
excess.

| 3. ASANAS |
The learning
and practice of the postures for physical / mental development.
|
| 4. PRANAYAM |
The
control of the life force, by means of systematic breathing.
|
| 5. PRATYAHARA |
The ability
to withdraw and lose contact with the outer world as a
step toward Dharana.
|
| 6. DHARANA |
The concentration
of thought on any point either inside or outside the body.
|
| 7. DHYANA |
The
intensification of concentration until the mind is wholly
absorbed by the object.
|
| 8. SAMADHI |
For
lack of a better word, this is best described as super
consciousness.
