Sharadiya Navratri 2025: Dates, Rituals & Powerful Sadhana Guide

Invoke Devi Shakti, Awaken Inner Power

Sharadiya Navratri is a nine-night spiritual celebration of Goddess Durga and her nine forms each a force of cosmic balance, strength, and wisdom. In 2025, these sacred nights begin on September 22 and culminate with Vijayadashami on October 2. This divine period is ideal for spiritual cleansing, mantra sadhana, inner transformation, and invoking the Divine Mother for blessings of protection, prosperity, and peace.

Ghatasthapana 2025: Beginning the Navratri Rituals

Navratri begins with Ghatasthapana on the first day (Pratipada). This is the invocation of Devi into a kalash (sacred vessel), symbolizing her divine presence for the entire nine days.

How to do Ghatasthapana at home:

Choose a clean, sacred space or altar.

Fill a copper or earthen kalash with water, mango leaves, and place a coconut wrapped in red cloth on top.

Decorate with turmeric, kumkum, and rice.

Sow barley seeds around the kalash in moist mud (optional but traditional).

    Light a diya and chant “ॐ ऐं ह्रीं क्लीं चामुण्डायै विच्चे॥” while invoking the Goddess.

This marks the beginning of daily puja and sadhana.

Sandhi Puja – The Most Auspicious Moment

Sandhi Puja occurs at the juncture of Ashtami and Navami, representing the fierce form of Durga who slayed demons in a single breath. This year, it falls on September 30, from 5:42 PM to 6:30 PM. Lighting 108 lamps, offering hibiscus flowers, and chanting the Navarna Mantra during this time brings immense spiritual merit.

Daily Navratri Puja Rituals in Simple Form

Dhyana (meditation) – Sit quietly and invoke the day’s form of Devi.

Deepa lighting – Offer a ghee lamp as a symbol of inner light.

Mantra chanting – Chant the Navarna mantra or Durga Saptashati verses.

Pushpanjali – Offer flowers, especially red hibiscus or lotus.

Naivedya – Offer simple food like fruits, milk, coconut, or kheer.

Aarti – Sing or recite Durga Aarti with devotion.

Even 10–15 minutes of dedicated worship with bhava (devotional feeling) is spiritually powerful.

Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned sadhak, Navratri offers an ideal time to align with Shakti.

    Choose any of the following:

Durga Saptashati Path – Recite full or partial chapters daily.

    Navarna Mantra Japa – “ॐ ऐं ह्रीं क्लीं चामुण्डायै विच्चे॥” – 108, 324 or 1008 times.

Chandi Homa or Yantra Puja – With proper guidance.

Silence and Meditation – Especially powerful during Ashtami and Navami nights.

    Ayudha Puja & Vijayadashami Significance

On the 10th day (October 1), worship is offered to all tools, vehicles, instruments, and books—acknowledging Shakti within the mundane. The next day, Vijayadashami (October 2) marks victory over inner negativity. It’s a beautiful time to begin new ventures, undertake studies, or resume spiritual goals.

    Offerings & Prasad Ideas

Each Devi has her own preferences, but the most essential offering is devotion.

    Some simple suggestions:

White sweets and ghee for Shailaputri

    Jaggery or banana for Brahmacharini

    Milk or honey for Mahagauri

Halwa-poori or coconut sweets for Sandhi Puja

Betel leaves, cloves, and cardamom during Kalaratri sadhana

Navratri at Home Without a Guru

Don’t feel discouraged if you are alone. The Divine Mother hears even a whisper from the heart. Just keep your space clean, your mind clear, and your intention strong. Light a lamp, chant Her name, and rest assured—Devi will guide you from within.
