A Spiritual Interpretation of the Corona Virus

The Corona virus is the trending topic of conversation these days for obvious reasons. There are many speculations about how this virus started spreading. It is said to have first been seen in China and spread to the rest of the world from there.

However, spiritually speaking it doesn’t matter where or how this virus began. It is a result of the collective negativity that exists in the world today.

A Manifestation of the Kali Yug

Ancient eastern and tantric texts talk about 4 ages or yugs or yugas- Satya Yug, Treta Yug, Dwapara Yug and Kali Yug. The age that we live in is called the Kali Yug or the Dark Ages.

It is said that during the Kali Yug, humans lose the sense of who they actually are and become egoistic and greedy. They begin to feel that they are the centre of the universe. In this self-centeredness, they neglect and misuse everything around them.

This is where we are as a species.

Moreover, since we live in a collective consciousness zone, the general mood of the collective is what gets manifested. This can be seen in the many occurrences of gun-shooting, negative politics, etc. The corona virus is just one more aspect of this.

Changing the Collective Consciousness

Thus, on the whole, the situation is bad. However, it is not impossible.

You see, humans are only species that can be born ordinary and die as Buddha consciousness. That is, humans have the power to change the collective consciousness, if only we change our approach to the situation.

First, we must start respecting Mother Nature, for she is the real divinity. And she is only reacting to what humans are doing to her. So, to change the situation we must begin respecting the natural flow of life.

This includes making time for meditation and relaxation, being mindful of the food you eat, and learning to manage your body and emotions. If humans learn to do this it is possible for animals and humans to live in harmony.

A Shift of Perception

Moreover, a shift in the perception of the situation can change the outcome. This pandemic has caused a lot of uncertainty and panic. Thus, all of our reactions to the situation have been from a place of fear and insecurity.

For example, when a lion is hungry it kills only what it needs for that time. Humans, on the other hand, stock up resources based on insecurity. We do not leave enough behind for others. We must change this.

Releasing Negative Emotions

Additionally, resources aren’t the only thing that humans stock up on. We have a lot of pent up emotions that exist within, which are often negative. It is this negativity that causes the collective to be negative as well.

So, if we release these pent up negative emotions, a huge shift can take place. Practicing yogic breathing, meditation and a healthy Ayurvedic lifestyle are great ways to do this. What’s more, the social isolation in place right now is the perfect opportunity for us to look within and heal ourselves.

Remember, this time it won’t be the survival of the fittest; it will be the survival of the witness. That is, the ones who become aware of their internal systems and learn to witness them without judgment are the ones who will survive.
