Keep Yourself On Track Everyday With This Morning Ritual

Eastern traditions often consider dawn or the ‘Bramhamuhurtham’ to be the best time to be up and about. That way you rise with the sun and begin your day.

However, in the modern world, waking up that early can be difficult, especially if you were working, worrying or wondering late into the night before. What’s more, unless you are a ‘rise and shine’ type, morning may not even be your favorite time of day.

Learning to start your morning right can change your life though, and one of the best ways to do so is to have a morning ritual.

A morning ritual stimulates your mind and energizes your spirit before you start your day. That, in turn, reduces stress and anxiety increasing your productivity throughout the day. One of the easiest and most powerful morning rituals that you can try is to set an intention for the day.

An intention or ‘Sankalpa’ is a fuel to your awareness that can change your day for the better. Without intention, you are like a treasure hunter without the map. You will have no idea what is coming and will be completely at the mercy of circumstances. If you set an intention for your day, however, you will be able to navigate life better, and even if something unexpected comes up you will be able to handle it.

Remember though, the intentions you set for your day must be positive; do not set negative intentions. For instance, if you want to meet a deadline by the afternoon, set an intention “I will have completed (task) by noon”. Do not set an intention that says “May my deadline get extended to the evening”. That would defeat the purpose of setting the intention in the first place. Additionally, you must not set long-term intentions. Ideally, set daily intentions, but you can also set intentions for up-to a year. Any longer and the intention you set may not work in your favor.

Lastly, and most importantly, incorporating setting your intention into your morning meditation practice is a game-changer. It makes this ritual many times more powerful, as it connects your intention and your higher self. When your higher self sets the intention, you begin to manifest your dreams!
